Charles Constant calls this his Web Portfolio rather than his Web Design Portfolio because there is so much more to a great website than just visual design. Useability, Information Architecture and Search Engine Optimization are only a few of the many major considerations.
These examples of Chuck's work show an excellent grasp of IA and the visual aspect of website design as well as a "Don't Make Me Think" approach to Use ability. As a writer, Chuck is uniquely suited for the task of Search Engine Optimization.
An explanation of exactly what SEO is will be coming soon, but if you already know, you'll be able to see the ways in which Chuck, using only "White Hat SEO", has written the copy, named the headers, identified the images and generally loaded his designs with keyword searchable copy and assets.
Chuck is currently building sites for a company that specializes in Law Firm Web Design. These are just a few of the sites Charles has built for them. They are big fans of Flash and Chuck is currently just learning Flash, so many of the sites have a space where the Flash presentation will be created by another person.
The copy for all the sites and is still being fine tuned it for SEO purposes.
Charles Constant Example One
Subtle movement on menu link hover.
Charles Constant Example Two
Simple, straight-forward, no nonsense.
Charles Constant Example Three
Note the navigation on the left and the images on the right. They act as if they were Flash elements, but they are all searchable CSS.
Charles Constant Example Four
Sleak and newsie with Optimized content.
Charles Constant Goes Hollywood
Next is a site for a new film production company. Chuck is working with the marketing director who is still making decisions about colors and the overall feel for which he is looking, so it is very much a work in progress. I don't particularly like the way it looks, but the people who are paying me do and that's what counts. However, it does have a nice pull-down menu that you can have a look at!
Below is a list of sites, which Chuck reviewed during the Springboard training in October of 2007. Each review addresses the sites' usability. If you'd like to visit the site after reading the review, just click on the image below each review.
